Blind Self Portrait Contours

So, at first I thought I was just doing it wrong. These started out really weird and I allows think that about blind contours. Even with that I had fun with them, and the results are always a blast to look at. I am sad that we did not critique these because they were all funny looking. No joke. I think my favorite medium is the ink and bamboo brush. I love painting water colors with the bamboo brush to begin with.... so the ink was something different. All in all I thought this experience was fast and fun. I enjoyed it for the most and I cheated on the ink ones... It was kind of hard not to.

In October of 1964, in an article describing this new style of art,Time Magazine coined the phrase "Optical Art" (or "Op Art", as it's more commonly known). The term referenced the fact that Op Art is comprised of illusion, and often appears - to the human eye - to be moving or breathing due to its precise, mathematically-based composition.
